The population and benefits picture are changing.

These figures come directly from the uploaded VA disability, VetPop2023, GDX, and PACT Act files. Sunshine presents them as context—not proof that one trend caused another—and connects each topic to practical help.

Data periods, sources, and important limitations
  • FY2025 disability compensation: county file as of September 30, 2025; uploaded as export(1).csv.
  • FY2024 comparison: uploaded county disability compensation file.
  • Veteran population: VA VetPop2023 county projections through FY2053.
  • Expenditures: GDX FY2024 county direct and indirect expenditures. FY2024 is the baseline because VA changed its geographic allocation methodology.
  • PACT Act: nine uploaded VA state/territory releases with claims dates from March 15, 2025 through March 31, 2026.

Suppression: VA may suppress small subgroup values. Totals and percentages can differ slightly because suppressed values are not reconstructed.
