The short version: This is not a rule that every Florida Medicaid member must work. Federal guidance targets certain adults and includes exemptions, including some people who are disabled or medically frail and qualifying caregivers.
Who should pay attention
Potentially certain nonpregnant adults ages 19–64 in an affected Medicaid eligibility group. Many children, older adults, disability pathways, and exempt individuals are treated differently.
What changed
- CMS says states generally must implement community-engagement requirements by January 1, 2027.
- The federal framework uses an 80-hour monthly standard for affected individuals.
