Who this is built for

Hospital discharge planners and case managersFor the family that nods through the discharge conversation and clearly has no idea what happens Monday.
Hospice and palliative social workersFor families juggling benefits, equipment, and paperwork alongside everything else.
County Veteran Service OfficersThe plan routes veterans and surviving spouses to accredited free help first, never around it.
Senior center and Council on Aging staffFor walk-ins who need a starting point rather than a stack of brochures.
Elder law and estate planning firmsFor the non-legal half of the problem clients bring to you anyway.
Faith community care ministriesFor volunteers who want to help a family and don't know which office to call.

Why it's free, and what I get out of it

You should know the business model before you hand anything to a family, so here it is plainly.

  • The complete self-guided plan and every guide on this site are free. There is no paywall at the end.
  • The site transparently offers an optional $149 written Personal Review and paid non-clinical Advocate coordination for people who want tailored guidance or help carrying the calls and paperwork. Those services help fund the free resources.
  • No provider pays for placement in a plan. If that ever changes, it gets labeled directly next to the recommendation.
  • I don't take referral fees, and I'm not going to ask you for a referral agreement.
  • Nothing a family enters is automatically reported to an agency. Email is optional; if provided, it is used to send the plan and practical follow-up help, with an unsubscribe link in every message.

What I'd ask in return: if you use it and something in it is wrong, outdated, or missing, tell me. You know these programs better than a database does, and the whole thing gets more useful when people in the field correct it.

Ways we can work together

Organizations can share Sunshine for free, help strengthen the resource library, or fund wider access. A partnership never changes which programs or providers appear in a family's plan.

No-cost collaboration

Resource and distribution partner

Share the county finder, keep handouts at a desk, include Sunshine in discharge materials, or test it with clients and report anything outdated or missing.

Community support

County or regional underwriter

Help fund research, verification, printing, and continued free access for a county or region. Recognition is clearly labeled and kept separate from recommendations.

Workplace benefit

Employer caregiver program

Give employees a clear Florida resource when caregiving, disability, hospital discharge, or benefits problems begin affecting work. Programs can include co-branded materials and education.

Custom implementation

Co-branded navigator or resource project

Create a focused entry point, handout, training, or resource collection for an organization while keeping sources, boundaries, and sponsor disclosures clear.

What a partnership does—and does not—buy

  • Partners may fund access, research, printing, education, or a clearly defined custom project.
  • Sponsors are labeled plainly where their support is acknowledged.
  • No partner can buy a recommendation, survey result, ranking, or preferred placement.
  • Personal survey answers are not sold or handed to sponsors.
  • Aggregate reporting, when offered, describes overall use without exposing a person's private answers.

Printable one-pager

Print it, keep a stack at a desk, or hand a single copy to a family. It sends people to the free county finder and does not require payment.

Sunshine Support NetworkFree county-by-county help · Florida

You don't have to solve everything tonight. Just know what to do first.

Follow a short guided path and get a free, personalized plan for your situation: which local calls to make, in what order, the direct phone numbers, and the words to use when someone answers.

sunshinesupportnetwork.comChoose the county, describe the situation, and get the first useful steps
  1. Tell it what changed. A fall, discharge, disability, diagnosis, bill or denial, veterans issue, crisis, storm need, or caregiving strain.
  2. Get your first three steps. Local or statewide programs with direct numbers—not a long, unfiltered directory.
  3. Get the script. Exactly what to say when someone picks up, and what to ask if the answer is "you're on the list."
  4. Keep the complete plan. Print it, save it as a PDF, or share the first three steps with anyone else helping.

Useful Florida numbers, no website required:
Community and social-service referrals — dial 211 · Florida Elder Helpline — 1-800-963-5337
Mental health and suicide crisis support — call or text 988 · Emergency — dial 911

Sunshine Support Network organizes public, nonprofit, and provider information across Florida. It is not medical, legal, tax, insurance, or benefits advice, does not decide eligibility, and does not monitor emergencies. Programs and waitlists change—confirm details directly. If someone may be in immediate danger, call 911.

Families who need someone to carry it

Some people don't need more information. They need a person. If someone in front of you has no local support, a stalled benefits application, or a complicated transition with important loose ends, the Sunshine Advocate is a paid non-clinical service that can do calling, organizing, and follow-up under a written scope.

It is not clinical care, legal representation, or benefits counseling, and it never replaces an accredited VSO for VA claims. Scope and price are in writing before anything starts, and families apply in writing rather than sitting through a sales call.
