How to Apply for Meals on Wheels in Brevard County

Call Aging Matters in Brevard at 321-639-8770 and ask to sign up for Meals on Wheels. Its current eligibility page says applicants must be at least 60, homebound, and unable to prepare their own meals. Staff asks basic questions, including medical conditions and emergency contacts, then arranges an in-home assessment.
What to have in front of you
- Full name, age, Brevard address, phone, and directions to the home
- Emergency contact and caregiver information
- Medical conditions, mobility, dietary concerns, and ability to prepare food
- Why the person is homebound and whether someone can safely shop or cook
- Preferred language, hearing, vision, or access accommodations
What to say when someone answers
“I want to start a Meals on Wheels intake for a Brevard resident age [age] who is homebound and cannot safely prepare meals. What questions will you ask, when can the in-home assessment occur, and what should we do while waiting?”
Small but useful: Write down the person’s name, the date, the exact next step, and when you should call again.
Do this in order

What happens next
Aging Matters conducts the in-home assessment and prioritizes service based on eligibility, need, funding, route capacity, and volunteer availability. The program does not use an income eligibility scale, but low-income applicants receive priority; donations are encouraged.
If the first answer doesn’t solve it
Ask for the private-pay delivery option if there is route capacity, Seniors at Lunch locations, and temporary food referrals. Keep the person’s contact details current and ask when to check back.
